The Masimo Personal Health App is designed exclusively for use with the MightySat fingertip pulse oximeter. This powerful combination enables non-invasive measurement of blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate, perfusion index, respiration rate, and pleth variability index. Please note that the compatible Masimo devices are currently available for purchase in select countries only. To learn more about purchasing the MightySat device, please visit our website at www.MasimoPersonalHealth.com (for customers in the United States) or www.MasimoPersonalHealth.co.uk (for customers outside the United States).
MightySat utilizes Signal Extraction Technology (SET®), a cutting-edge technology that ensures highly accurate oxygen saturation and pulse rate measurements even in situations where other pulse oximeters may fail, such as during movement or when blood flow is low.
Measurements:
- Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) - Indicates the oxygen level in arterial blood, reflecting heart and lung function, oxygen utilization by the body, or changes in altitude.
- Pulse Rate (PR) - Reflects overall fitness levels and exertion levels at a specific moment.
- Perfusion Index (Pi) - Measures the strength of blood flow to the finger, providing insights into changes in blood circulation.
- Respiration Rate (RRp) - Tracks the number of breaths taken per minute, providing valuable information about cardiovascular and pulmonary function, as well as post-exercise recovery.
- Pleth Variability Index (PVi) - Measures the variation in perfusion index over a breathing cycle. Changes in PVi can indicate changes in hydration level, breathing effort, perfusion, or other relevant factors.¹²³
Please note that when measuring PVi, it is recommended to assume the same body position, remain still and refrain from talking, maintain a consistent breathing rate and depth until a high-confidence PVi value is obtained (displayed value is bright, not dim). An increase in PVi may suggest dehydration, increased breathing effort, or other factors, while a decrease in PVi may indicate improved hydration level, decreased breathing effort, or other relevant factors. Multiple elements such as breathing rate, depth of breathing, body position, body movement, vascular tone, blood flow to the finger (perfusion index), normal short-term variation within monitoring sessions, waveform shape changes, and cardiovascular abnormalities can influence PVi.¹²³
